In January 2019 the father-son team Dr. Karl-Heinz Stenvers and Lutz Stenvers founded the mtex antenna technology gmbh, which is headquartered in Wiesbaden (Hessian state).

The subject of mtex antenna technology in Wiesbaden is to develop and manufacture telescopes for astronomy and geodesy, as well as special antennas for demanding applications. We also supply antenna systems and ground stations for satellites or communication with spacecrafts for business, research, ministries and government agencies. In addition to the product areas, this includes comprehensive services such as engineering services, installation, maintenance, upgrades and after sales services.

Since January 2025, Dr. Jens Bormann has been Chief Operating Officer at mtex antenna technology and supports Lutz Stenvers in the management team. He comes from a background in mechanical engineering and brings a great deal of know-how and passion to the role.

Innovation

mtex has developed and patented a new type of panel that enables measurements as accurate as half the thickness of a human hair. On average, they are 2.3 x 2.3m in size and weigh approx. 70kg. The aluminum mirrors undergo a special surface treatment to achieve a diffuse reflection of solar energy.

76 of these panels were built at CONCAD GmbH for the ngVLA prototype.
